Art Supplies for Daycares

Unleashing a child’s creativity is very important in their developmental stages. There are many ways that children create and design things. They can use their intelligence to create different games, they can make songs through the use of music, and they can create works of art through the use of their imagination. Art supplies are important for daycares. These tools are needed to make pictures, create objects, and design art works. There are many different artistic mediums that a daycare can provide for their students. First lets explore the use of technology and computer art. Computers are being used in this day and time inside of many childcare facilities. These computers are situated inside of the classrooms of the toddlers and they can be used to help them develop computer literacy and skills. There are software programs that help children to design various works of art. Some of these programs allow children to color on the monitor screen. There are programs where children can create their own animation cartoons and even a complete a whole show if they are allowed to. Some software programs even allow children to create 3-D models of buildings and go as far as to design cities. Technology has opened up so many avenues for students in this day and time that digital artwork is becoming another artistic medium for artist to express themselves. So, without a doubt computer software and computers should be a part of a daycares repertoire of art supplies. Even with the technology there are many teachers who prefer the old methods of creating art. They want the students to experience the hands on approach to creating artwork. This usually involves painting, cutting, pasting, drawing, coloring, building, and designing. So certain supplies are needed to make this possible. Crayons, scissors, and pencils are the basic foundation of art supplies. Drawing and coloring are important to children since they do it often. Also drawing images and coloring on pages help to start the children down the road on the creative process with art. Next are things like paints and glue. Paints and glue are for more intermediate art work. Paints need to be washable and they need to be easy to manage. Glue should be the standard glue in the bottle or glue sticks. Children will learn how to put objects together with glue so have plenty on hand. Then there are things like glitter, pipe cleaner, toy eyes, and yarn. These type of things are for the more advance art projects. They require supervision and a lot of imagination to learn how to make them into a work of art. Last in the art supply kit should be cotton balls, pieces of cloth, clay or playdough and even popsicle sticks. These are usually needed for the most advance projects and should be guided by the teachers. Art supplies shouldn’t be complicated or too hard for students in day cares to use. They should be used in a way that fosters fun and the projects and activities should be entertaining when they are being done. Each daycare center should have enough art supplies to make sure they can help to bring out their students creativity and quit possibly an artistic masterpiece.
